Lothian and Borders Police are in a position to provide a further update regarding the large-scale operation targeting drug dealers in the Dalkeith area.

Operation Evolve is the culmination of 20 months of investigation and has resulted in 100% of the intended targets being arrested.

Operation Evolve has today (24 September) continued with a second wave of searches, bringing the total number of houses searched in the Midlothian area to 28.

Today's detentions are as follows:

Two females in their 20's, four in their 30's

Two males in their 20's, five in their 30's and one in the 40's

A total of £5000 cash has been seized, £700 worth of cocaine, 26 wraps of a substance believed to be cocaine, a hydroponics system with six cannabis plants and a quantity of cannabis, various quantities of other substances and other drug paraphernalia. Additionally two air rifles, airgun pellets and a BB pistol have also been seized.

Chief Superintendent Terry Powell, said: "I am sure that as a result of this two day operation, the residents of a number of areas of Midlothian will see a big difference in their quality of life."
