Cars damaged, Edinburgh
Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for witnesses after
several cars were damaged in Edinburgh.
The incidents are all believed to have happened sometime between
2am and 2.30am on Saturday (28th January) at addresses in Grange
Loan, Duncan Street, Upper Gray Street, Fountainhall Road and
Causewayside.
A total of 19 cars sustained slashed tyres, had their wing mirrors
pulled off or had their bodywork scratched, and police believe
these vandalisms are linked.
The total value of the damage caused is estimated to be between
£2,000 and £3,000.
Officers are now keen to trace four people who were known to be in
the area at the time of these incidents and anyone who recognises
their description is asked to come forward.
The first person is described as male, white, late teens - early
twenties, 6ft tall and wearing a light-grey hooded tracksuit top
and dark grey jogging bottoms.
The second person is described as male, white, late teens - early
twenties with a medium build and short dark hair. He was wearing a
zipper jacket and dark-coloured jeans.
The third person is described as female, white, late teens - early
twenties, 5ft 5ins tall with dark brown hair in a ponytail and was
dressed smartly in a black woollen jacket and dark trousers.
The fourth person is described as female, white, early twenties,
5ft 3ins tall with a medium build and blonde hair pulled back. She
was wearing a grey top and jogging bottoms.
A police spokesman said: "Over the past few days we have been
collating the number of victims in these areas as the owners
returned to find their cars damaged.
"These mindless acts of vandalism have caused high-value damage and
resulted in unnecessary inconvenience for the motorists
affected.
"Anyone who saw anything suspicious around these addresses, or who
can assist us with our enquiries to trace those responsible is
asked to contact police immediately."
