Assault - CCTV images released
Lothian and Borders Police are releasing CCTV images of two men
they are looking to trace in connection with a serious assault in
Edinburgh in August.
A 45-year-old man was attacked as he walked towards Bristo Square
from the direction of the underpass about 2.30am on Saturday 27th
August. Two men had approached him, and one of them punched him,
making him fall to the ground.
The man suffered a fractured skull, cheekbone and jaw as a result
of the fall.
Inquiries are ongoing to identify the people responsible, and
police are keen to talk to two men who are seen on CCTV in the area
around the time of the assault.
A police spokesperson said: "As this assault happened at festival
time in Edinburgh it is possible the people responsible are not
from the city themselves.
"This man suffered significant injuries in what appears to have
been an entirely unprovoked assault, and we are appealing for
members of the public to come forward and assist with our
investigation.
"I would appeal for anyone who may recognise the images of the two
men to contact police on 0131 311 3131, or the charity
Crimestoppers in confidence and complete anonymity on 0800 555
111."
